CPWO CyClone Power Web Optimizer

One command, lighter files.

CPWO is a single command-line tool that minifies HTML, CSS, JS, JSON, SVG and XML, compresses images and converts them to WebP and AVIF. It writes the results next to your files and leaves the originals alone.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Point it at a folder

CPWO scans the project folder for pages, code and images.

  2. Minify the code

It minifies HTML, CSS, JS, JSON, SVG and XML files.

  3. Compress the images

It recompresses JPEG and PNG and writes WebP copies.

  4. Results beside the originals

Every result lands next to its source; originals stay untouched.

Why

That's why we built Web Optimizer

Web developers want a project's pages and images lighter before they publish. CPWO minifies the code files and converts the images with one command, writing every result next to its source and never modifying the originals.

  • Originals never change

Your sources are never modified; a record file lists what CPWO created.

  • A single program

It runs on Linux, Windows and macOS with nothing else installed.

  • AVIF when you ask

AVIF is off until you ask for it, because its encoder is much slower.

Release stage

  1. Alpha Works, but may still change 0.1.0
  2. Beta Feature-complete, being polished 0.3.0-beta
  3. Stable Ready for everyday use 1.0.0

Getting it running

3 steps

  1. Download the archive for your platform from the releases page on GitHub and unpack it. There's nothing to install or compile.
  2. Put the binary somewhere on your PATH, or run it from the folder it's in.
  3. Run it on a project folder, for example cpwo ./site. It writes the results next to your files and never changes the originals.

More details

CPWO is a single program for Linux, Windows and macOS. Nothing else has to be installed on the machine that runs it. Point it at a project folder and it scans the folder, minifies HTML, CSS, JS, JSON, SVG and XML, recompresses JPEG and PNG, and writes WebP copies of the images. AVIF is available too; it is off until you ask for it, because its encoder is much slower. Every result is written next to the file it came from, and your sources are never modified. A record file in the project lists what CPWO created, so the next run can tell its own files from yours. On request it also writes resized variants, links pages to the minified files, and wraps images in <picture>. CPWO is open source under the MIT licence, and its documentation is in English, Persian, Turkish and Arabic.
